On this day in 1987, former Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees pitcher James Augustus “Catfish” Hunter was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame with 76% of the vote. The five-time World Series champion won 224 career games and the 1974 American League Cy Young Award.
